Homebirth Midwife in Perth

Safe, supported homebirth care for eligible families, with continuity from a known midwife throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Homebirth offers a calm, familiar environment for birth, supported by experienced, qualified midwifery care focused on both safety and individualised support.

 What is Planned Homebirth?

Planned homebirth is a safe and supported option for women with a healthy low-risk pregnancy, attended by a qualified and experienced endorsed midwife.

Care includes thorough antenatal assessment, birth preparation, continuous support during labour and birth, and postnatal care at home.

The focus is on supporting physiological birth in a familiar, comfortable environment, while maintaining clear clinical guidelines and safety planning.

Safety in Homebirth Care

Safety is central to all aspects of homebirth planning and care.

  • Care follows national midwifery consultation and referral guidelines
  • Ongoing assessment throughout pregnancy and labour
  • Clear plans for hospital transfer if required
  • Professional equipment and medications available
  • Continuous one-to-one midwifery support

Homebirth is carefully planned to support both physiological birth and clinical safety.

 Is Homebirth Right for You?

Homebirth may be suitable if you:

Have a low-risk pregnancy

‍ ‍Are expecting one baby in a head-down position

‍ ‍Have no significant medical or obstetric complications

‍ ‍Feel comfortable with birth at home

Would like continuity of care with a known midwife

Suitability is always discussed individually to ensure safe and appropriate care.

What to Expect with Homebirth Care

During Pregnancy

Regular antenatal visits, preparation for birth, and planning for your home environment and preferences.

During Labour & Birth

Continuous support in your home, with monitoring of you and your baby, guidance through labour, and calm, experienced care.

After Birth

Immediate postnatal care, support with feeding and recovery, and ongoing home visits in the days and weeks following birth.

If Transfer to Hospital is Needed

Transfers to hospital can occur and are most often non-urgent.

Reasons may include labour taking longer than expected or a preference for additional pain relief.

If transfer is needed:

‍ ‍It is discussed early and calmly

‍ ‍The hospital is notified before arrival

‍ ‍Your midwife continues to support you

Planning for transfer is part of safe homebirth care and ensures you remain supported at all times.

Experienced, Supported Care

Homebirth care is provided by Jess, an endorsed private practice midwife with experience across hospital, continuity of care and private midwifery settings.

Care is grounded in current evidence, clinical guidelines and a commitment to safe, respectful maternity care.

A backup midwife system is in place to ensure continuous support.
