Maiden to Mother

Helping You from Maiden to Mother

The life-changing transition from maiden to mother and again mother to new mother is a time where a postpartum doula can provide emotional and physical support to help a woman step into their new role with confidence and fulfilment.

I am here to mother the mother, provide a space of nurturing, healing, rest and recovery.

Allow me to be your companion, your moral support, your cheerleader and gatekeeper. To assist you with household chores, an ear to listen and a shoulder to lean on. My duty is to make time available for you to focus on healing, resting and caring for your new baby.

To reduce stress and improve wellbeing in your postpartum journey.

Your postpartum journey is a time to find peace and joy and the services I provide are entirely up to you, during my visit to your home I am there to help YOU!

“The postpartum period or fourth trimester are the first 6-12 weeks of having a newborn baby. This time is filled with joy, peace, love, intrigue, transformation, insecurity, overwhelming emotions, and so much more. Modern day mothers need practical and emotional help that gives them more time to bond with and care for their baby in a way that feels right for you.”

“From Africa to Europe, women are encouraged to take it easy, eat well, and focus on bonding with their baby during the first month to six weeks. Countries around the world have similar rituals and traditions around postnatal care. It’s all about stepping back, slowing down, and taking care of yourself so you can take care of your little one.”

A postpartum, or postnatal doula is an unbiased, non-judgmental support person who takes care of you in your home, allowing you to take care of your baby in a way that feels right for you.

We support parents to bond with their baby, encouraging them to spend time together, facilitating you to gain a deeper understanding of your baby’s personality and temperament and develop confidence in your unique parenting style.

Providing companionship and emotional support by actively listening, providing a shoulder to cry on or even having a cup of tea and a laugh together with the mother.

A postpartum doula will always make referrals where appropriate.

Having a baby is a big transition for everyone and a postpartum doula will also provide support for partners, siblings and extended family during the adjustment period.

Postpartum doulas understand the dynamics of all the relationships that will be affected and support positive communication.

  • The word doula comes from a Greek word meaning “woman’s helper”. In recent times, a doula is known as someone who helps people through life’s transitions.

A postpartum doula is there to provide practical and emotional support to a woman in the postpartum period.

  • The postpartum period refers to the first year after birth, however, women typically access my services in the first few weeks and months after having a baby.

“I offer a variety of packages to support you. Parenthood is a journey that is most successfully undertaken with gentle and non-judgemental assistance. I am here to guide and encourage you however and whenever is needed.”

This is a time of planning and consideration, for a positive postpartum experience.

We will come together to discover through careful contemplation how to make your fourth trimester an informed and truly special, supported time.

Creating a postpartum plan is empowering for any newborn mother whether it's your first baby or fifth!.

It allows you to bring home your new baby and not have to worry about how everything is going to keep running day to day...shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry (just to name a few).

For first time parents it also provides you with some knowledge and confidence with baby skills and a time to ask all your niggling questions about what to do with a newborn.

This is a space to assess your needs and wants for this sacred time; how best to support you, nurture you, help you recover, transition from Maiden to Mother including mother to new mother and emerge from the postpartum experience safe, happy, healthy and well adjusted.
